One of Scotland's most visited museums, Kelvingrove combines a grand Victorian building with an eclectic collection spanning natural history, world cultures, arms and armour, and major art works including pieces by Salvador Dalí and the Glasgow Boys. A full-size Spitfire hangs suspended from the ceiling of the main hall, a genuine crowd-pleaser for children as soon as they walk in, and organ recitals are still performed regularly on the building's original pipe organ. Interactive displays and family trails run throughout, making it easy to keep even restless younger visitors engaged across a fairly large collection. Entry is free, and the museum is fully accessible.
