Large south-side Glasgow park with a flagpole viewpoint, glasshouse, pond and playgrounds.

Named after Mary, Queen of Scots, who is said to have watched her final battle from this hill in 1568, Queen's Park is one of Glasgow's grandest south-side parks, with a flagpole at its summit giving sweeping views back over the city skyline. A small glasshouse displays tropical and Mediterranean plants, while a boating pond and well-equipped playgrounds give more conventional family entertainment lower down the hill. The park's Victorian layout, designed by Joseph Paxton, gives it a more formal, ornamental feel than some of Glasgow's other parks. It's free to visit, with parking on nearby streets and most paths suitable for buggies, though the summit involves a climb.
