This family park in the west end of Glasgow is home to the Fossil Grove, a genuinely remarkable site containing the fossilised stumps of trees that grew here over 300 million years ago, preserved in place and visible to visitors much as they were when first uncovered in the 19th century. Beyond the fossils, the park offers a proper playground and well-tended gardens for a more conventional family visit. The combination of deep geological history and everyday park facilities makes it an unusually interesting local park. It's free to visit, with parking nearby and most paths suitable for buggies.
