Brodick Castle, seat of the Dukes of Hamilton for centuries, overlooks Brodick Bay with Goatfell rising dramatically behind it, and the National Trust for Scotland-run estate around it combines formal gardens, woodland walks and an adventure playground across a genuinely large site. Its position right by the ferry terminal makes it one of the easiest major attractions to reach on Arran without needing a car. The gardens are particularly known for their rhododendron collection, at their best in late spring. There's an admission charge, a cafe on site, and while the grounds are largely accessible, the castle interior has stairs.
