This popular cycling route circles the whole of Arran, following largely quiet coastal roads with sea views for much of its length, making it a genuinely rewarding ride for families comfortable cycling longer distances together. The full circuit is a serious undertaking, so many families choose to tackle a shorter section rather than the whole island in one go. Bike hire is available in several of the island's villages for those without their own. It's free to cycle the roads themselves, with charges only for any bike hire, and terrain varies from flat coastal stretches to more challenging hillier sections.
