About this place
Interactive science centre exploring the story of planet Earth with immersive exhibits and shows.
Housed beneath its distinctive tented roof near the Scottish Parliament and Holyrood Park, Dynamic Earth tells the story of the planet from the Big Bang through to the present day, using immersive galleries, a 4D show and life-size recreations of environments from polar ice to tropical rainforest. The combination of genuine science and theatrical staging tends to hold children's attention better than a traditional museum format, and several sections are designed to be walked through and explored rather than simply viewed. It sits within easy walking distance of the castle and Royal Mile, making it easy to combine with other central Edinburgh attractions. There's an admission charge, and the building is fully accessible.
