Following a major redevelopment completed in recent years, Union Terrace Gardens has become one of Aberdeen's most popular free green spaces right in the centre of the city, with new play areas, event space and terraced lawns replacing what had become a rather neglected sunken garden. Its central position, just off Union Street, makes it an easy stop while exploring the rest of the city, and a busy programme of free events runs through the year on the garden's event space. The redevelopment has given the gardens a considerably more open, welcoming feel than in previous years. It's free to visit, with parking available nearby and the main areas fully accessible.
