About this place
Large zoo featuring giant pandas, penguins and over 1000 animals located on Corstorphine Hill.
Set on the slopes of Corstorphine Hill with views back over the city, Edinburgh Zoo is home to more than a thousand animals across its hillside site, including koalas, penguins and a wide range of species from around the world. The daily Penguin Parade, in which the zoo's resident penguins are free to waddle around part of the grounds under their own steam, has been a tradition since the 1950s and remains one of the most popular moments of a visit. The hilly layout means plenty of walking between enclosures, so comfortable shoes help. There's an admission charge, a cafe on site, and while most paths are accessible, some sections are steep.
