Ancient Neolithic burial cairns reached via a scenic walk above Whiting Bay.

These Neolithic burial cairns, reached by a walk up through forest above Whiting Bay, are among the oldest human structures on Arran, dating back some 5,000 years and giving a tangible link to the island's earliest inhabitants long before its more recent clan and Viking history. The walk up is moderately steep in places, rewarded by both the ancient site itself and views back down over Whiting Bay and the Ayrshire coast. It's a quieter, less-visited site than some of Arran's more famous stone circles. It's free to visit, with parking at the trailhead, and the path is not suitable for buggies.
