About this place

Scenic viewpoint looking across to Holy Isle and the Firth of Clyde.

This viewpoint on Arran's east coast looks directly across to Holy Isle, a small island owned by a Buddhist community affiliated with the nearby Samye Ling monastery, who welcome day visitors arriving by a short boat crossing from Lamlash. Even without making the crossing, the view itself, framed by the Firth of Clyde and the hills of Arran behind, is a striking one, and the island's peaceful, protected status gives it a slightly different character from a typical Scottish island. It's free to visit the viewpoint, with parking nearby and a separate charge for anyone wanting to take the boat across.
