About this place

National Trust for Scotland museum in Alloway telling the story of Scotland's national poet, linked to Burns Cottage by the Poet's Path.

Run by the National Trust for Scotland, this museum in Alloway tells the story of Robert Burns from his humble beginnings through to his status as Scotland's national poet, using original manuscripts, personal possessions and interactive displays to bring his life and work to life for visitors of all ages. A path known as the Poet's Path links the museum directly to Burns Cottage nearby, taking in the Brig o' Doon and Burns Monument along the way, so the two sites work naturally as a single, longer visit. It's a genuinely thorough introduction to Burns for families less familiar with his poetry. There's an admission charge, and the museum is fully indoors and accessible.
