Smaller and more intimate than Deep Sea World along the coast, St Andrews Aquarium sits right on the seafront and is built around a mix of seals in an outdoor pool, penguins, and tanks of tropical fish and other sea creatures inside. Touch pools let children handle starfish and other hardy species under supervision, and feeding times for the seals and penguins are a highlight for most visits. Its town-centre location makes it easy to combine with a walk along the harbour or a stop at the beach. There's an admission charge, and the indoor sections make it a reliable option when the Fife weather turns.
