The sandy beach at Broughty Ferry looks out towards the mouth of the Tay, with the silhouette of Broughty Castle standing right at the water's edge giving the view a distinctive landmark that most other Dundee-area beaches lack. The wider village has a good run of cafes and shops just back from the front, making it easy to turn a beach visit into a longer outing without much planning. It's a popular spot for walks as much as for sitting on the sand, particularly along the esplanade towards Monifieth. It's free to visit, with parking available nearby and toilets in the village.
