About this place
Large wildlife park in the Cairngorms with polar bears and native animals.
Run by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, the same charity behind Edinburgh Zoo, this park focuses on animals suited to a cold climate - red deer, wild boar, bison and Highland cattle roam a drive-through safari section that visitors explore by car, while walking trails lead to enclosures for Amur tigers, snow monkeys and, among its best-known residents, polar bears. It's considerably larger than a typical zoo, so it suits a proper half-day visit rather than a quick stop, and comfortable shoes help for the walking sections. There's an admission charge, a cafe on site, and it's fully accessible, though the drive-through section obviously requires a car.
