About this place

Heritage steam train running between Aviemore and Broomhill through Speyside scenery.

Vintage steam locomotives haul this heritage railway along a scenic stretch of Speyside between Aviemore and Broomhill, with Broomhill station doubling as the fictional Glenbogle in the BBC series Monarch of the Glen. The return journey takes a couple of hours including a stop, giving children plenty of time to enjoy the novelty of a real steam train without it becoming a marathon. Trains run seasonally rather than year-round, so it's worth checking the timetable before planning a visit, and the platforms and carriages have a proper vintage feel rather than a modern, sanitised one. There's a charge for tickets, and the main Aviemore station has parking, toilets and a small shop.
