About this place
Scotland's design museum located on Dundee's waterfront with family exhibits and workshops.
Scotland's only design museum sits right on Dundee's waterfront in a striking building by the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, its layered concrete form intended to echo the cliffs of Scotland's east coast. Free permanent galleries explore Scottish design across centuries, from historic textiles to contemporary product design, while family-friendly workshops and trails run regularly to help younger visitors engage with what can otherwise be a fairly grown-up subject. Its position right beside Discovery Point makes it easy to combine both into one waterfront day. Entry to the main galleries is free, with charges for some temporary exhibitions, and the whole building is fully accessible.
