About this place
Historic castle and gardens on the shores of Loch Fyne with family-friendly grounds.
The Gothic Revival turrets of Inveraray Castle rise above the shore of Loch Fyne, and it remains the seat of the Duke of Argyll and Clan Campbell, having been rebuilt in its current form in the 18th century. Grand state rooms hung with tapestries and an armoury displaying historic weapons give the interior visit plenty of substance, while the grounds outside offer woodland walks and views over the loch. The castle gained wider attention as a filming location for a Downton Abbey Christmas special. There's an admission charge for the castle, with grounds-only tickets also available, and a tea room on site.
