Scattered across open moorland on Arran's west coast, this collection of Bronze Age standing stones and stone circles is one of the most significant prehistoric sites in Scotland, with several distinct circles visible along a waymarked path across the moor. The setting, with hills rising in the distance and few other structures in view, gives a strong sense of how the landscape might have looked to the people who built the circles thousands of years ago. It's a genuinely atmospheric rather than flashy site, best enjoyed at a slower pace. It's free to visit, with parking at the trailhead and a walk of about a mile each way across open, sometimes boggy ground.
