This free open-air industrial museum in Coatbridge occupies the site of a former ironworks, and its centrepiece is a genuine working tram that carries visitors along part of the original site, giving a rare hands-on transport experience within a museum visit. Reconstructed miners' cottages, furnished in period style, show what home life looked like for industrial workers in the area, adding a personal, domestic angle to the wider story of Lanarkshire's industrial past. The mix of outdoor exhibits and indoor galleries gives plenty of variety across a visit. Entry is free, and while much of the site is accessible, some outdoor areas have uneven ground.
