Sandy beach and working harbour in the seaside town of Troon.

Troon combines a proper sandy beach with a working harbour, giving families the chance to watch fishing boats and other vessels alongside more typical beach activities. The town itself, known internationally for its championship golf courses, has a good range of shops and cafes close to the seafront, making it easy to build a longer day around the beach visit. Views out across the water often take in Arran and, on clearer days, the Ayrshire coastline further south. It's free to visit, with parking available nearby and toilets along the front.
