This scenic walk around Mugdock Reservoir marks the very start of the West Highland Way, one of Scotland's best-known long-distance walking routes, though families need only walk a short section around the reservoir itself rather than attempting the full 96-mile route to Fort William. The flat, well-maintained path makes for an easy, accessible walk with good views across the water. It's a popular spot with local walkers as well as those setting off on the longer trail. It's free to visit, with parking in Milngavie town centre nearby and the main path suitable for buggies.
