About this place
Working Victorian letterpress print shop in Innerleithen, preserved as it was over a century ago.
Cared for by the National Trust for Scotland, this working Victorian print shop in Innerleithen has been preserved almost exactly as it was over a century ago, complete with its original cast-iron presses, type cases and machinery, some of which is still occasionally used to demonstrate traditional letterpress printing to visitors. It's a genuinely hands-on piece of industrial history, giving children a rare chance to see how printed material was produced before computers, all within a working building rather than a reconstructed one. There's an admission charge, and the historic building has some uneven flooring and stairs.
