Robert Burns spent the final years of his life in this house in Dumfries, and it remains furnished much as it would have been when he died here in 1796 at the age of just 37, giving a genuinely personal glimpse into the poet's domestic life rather than his public literary reputation. Original items, including his writing desk and chair, are on display alongside letters and other memorabilia. It's a compact house rather than a grand museum, well suited to a shorter visit. Entry is free, though the historic staircases mean it isn't fully accessible throughout.
