About this place
Wooded glen near Rosemarkie on the Black Isle, with waterfalls and an easy family walking trail.
This wooded glen on the edge of Rosemarkie, on the Black Isle, follows a burn up through mixed woodland past a series of small waterfalls, with an easy path suited to most families without requiring serious walking experience. Its gentle, sheltered setting gives it a very different character from Skye's better-known Fairy Glen, and its position close to Rosemarkie's own beach makes it easy to combine both into a single day. The glen is particularly attractive in spring, when wildflowers carpet the woodland floor beneath the trees. It's free to visit, with parking near the start of the walk, and the path involves some uneven, wooded terrain unsuitable for buggies.
