The cliffs at St Abb's Head rise dramatically from the sea along the Berwickshire coast, and in summer they come alive with tens of thousands of nesting seabirds, including guillemots, razorbills and kittiwakes packed onto the rock ledges in one of the best wildlife spectacles on the east coast of Scotland. A lighthouse marks the headland, and waymarked paths along the clifftop give sweeping views out over the North Sea. The terrain is genuinely rugged in places, so it suits families comfortable with a proper walk rather than a flat, easy stroll. It's free to visit, with parking at the reserve entrance and no other facilities on site.
