About this place
Lavish Edwardian country house near Duns with 56 acres of formal and informal gardens.
Manderston, near Duns, is often described as the swan song of the great Edwardian country houses, built and lavishly fitted out in the early 1900s without regard to cost - including what's said to be the only silver staircase in the world, plated at enormous expense by the house's original owner. Below stairs, the original servants' quarters and stables survive largely intact, giving an unusually complete picture of both upstairs and downstairs life in a grand Edwardian household. Some 56 acres of formal and informal gardens surround the house. There's an admission charge, and the historic house has stairs throughout.
