Famous viewpoint over the Tweed valley, said to be Sir Walter Scott's favourite spot.

This viewpoint over the Tweed valley near Bemersyde is said to have been Sir Walter Scott's favourite spot in the Borders, and according to local legend, the horses pulling his funeral cortege to nearby Dryburgh Abbey in 1832 paused here out of habit, as they had so often done during his lifetime. The view itself, taking in the distinctive triple peaks of the Eildon Hills across the valley, remains one of the most photographed in the Borders. It's a short stop rather than a walk, reached directly from a small car park. It's free to visit, with limited parking right at the viewpoint.
