About this place

Large coastal nature reserve with forests, dunes and wide sandy beaches.

This large coastal reserve strings together forest, dunes and some of the widest beaches in Fife, with waymarked trails through the trees leading out to the shore. At Tentsmuir Point, seals regularly haul out on the sandbanks at low tide, visible from a distance without disturbing them, and the reserve is home to a good range of birdlife across the seasons. It's a genuinely big site, so a full walk out to the point and back can take a couple of hours, though shorter loops nearer the car park suit families with younger children or less time. Managed by NatureScot, it's free to visit, with parking at the main entrance but limited other facilities.
