Designed by the architect William Adam in the 1730s for the Earl of Fife, Duff House is now run as an outstation of the National Galleries of Scotland, displaying paintings and furniture within its grand Georgian interiors. The surrounding gardens and parkland, running down towards the River Deveron, can be freely explored without paying to enter the house itself, giving families a pleasant riverside walk regardless of interest in the art collection inside. Its position on the edge of Banff makes it an easy stop while exploring the town and its harbour. The grounds are free to visit, with a charge for the house, parking on site, and most outdoor paths suitable for buggies.
