Baxters has been making soups and preserves from this site near Fochabers since 1868, and the visitor centre now built around the original family shop lets visitors taste and buy the full range alongside exhibits telling the story of the business through several generations of the same family. A cluster of other shops and a cafe fill out the site, making it an easy stop for a snack and a browse rather than a full day out in itself. It works well as a short, indoor break on a longer Speyside route, particularly on a wet day. Entry to the village is free, with charges only for food and shopping, and the whole site is accessible.
