About this place

Historic aircraft exhibits, flight simulators, and hands-on experiences for children.

Set on the former WWII airfield at East Fortune, this museum brings together one of the largest aircraft collections in Scotland, from early biplanes through to a full-size Concorde, G-BOAA, which visitors can walk inside to see the surprisingly cramped supersonic cabin firsthand. Flight simulators and hands-on exhibits give children a more active role in the visit than simply looking at parked aircraft, and the scale of some of the hangars makes for genuinely impressive viewing. Its more rural, out-of-town location means it tends to be quieter than Edinburgh's central museums. There's an admission charge, plenty of parking, and most hangars are accessible, though the site is spread out and involves some walking between them.
