One of Scotland's oldest tower houses, set in woodland with a walled rose garden.

Drum's original tower, one of the oldest surviving in Scotland, dates back to the 13th century and was built as a royal hunting lodge before passing into the hands of the Irvine family, who held it for over 650 years. Later additions mean the castle now spans several centuries of architecture in one building, while outside a walled rose garden and the ancient Wood of Drum, one of the few remaining fragments of the old Caledonian forest, give plenty of reason to extend the visit beyond the house itself. There's an admission charge for the castle, with the grounds free to explore, and a cafe on site.
