Skye's most westerly point, with a dramatic clifftop walk out to a lighthouse and views to the Outer Hebrides.
A steep path descends from the car park down towards Neist Point, Skye's most westerly tip, where a lighthouse built in 1909 still stands guard over some of the island's most dramatic cliff scenery. The walk back up is a genuine climb, so it suits families with reasonably fit older children rather than very young ones, but the views along the way, out towards the Outer Hebrides and along Skye's rugged coastline, are among the best on the island. Seabirds nest on the cliffs in summer, and whales or dolphins are occasionally spotted from the point in good conditions. It's free to visit, with parking at the top, and the steep, exposed path makes it unsuitable for buggies.
