This 18th-century estate on the edge of Selkirk was gifted to the town in 2009 and has since been developed into a free public park, with woodland, parkland and a lake giving families a genuinely large area to explore within easy walking distance of the town centre. Waymarked trails circle the lake and cross the wider estate, and the grand Georgian house, while not always open inside, adds an attractive backdrop to the walk. Its relatively recent opening to the public means it's less well known than some of the Borders' longer-established parks, giving it a pleasantly uncrowded feel. It's free to visit, with parking on site and most main paths suitable for buggies.
