Himalayan-style gorge garden on Loch Fyne with waterfalls and rhododendrons.
This Himalayan-style gorge garden on the shore of Loch Fyne was largely created by Grace, Lady Campbell in the early 20th century, who used the steep-sided gorge and its stream to recreate the dramatic planting she'd seen on trips to the Himalayas. Rhododendrons and exotic trees now tower over the paths, which climb and descend through the gorge on a network of trails suited to families with a bit of stamina rather than a flat, easy stroll. Now cared for by the National Trust for Scotland, it's at its most spectacular when the rhododendrons flower in late spring. There's an admission charge, and the steep paths make it unsuitable for buggies.
