About this place
Long sandy beach at Nairn on the Moray Firth, popular for its Blue Flag status and gently shelving sand.
Nairn's long, sandy beach has held Blue Flag status for its water quality and facilities, and its gently shelving sand makes it a genuinely good spot for paddling as well as more conventional beach play. The town itself, once a fashionable Victorian resort, still has something of that genteel seaside character, with a promenade and a good range of cafes close to the front. Golf courses back onto parts of the dunes, a reminder of Nairn's long-standing reputation as a golfing destination. It's free to visit, with parking available nearby and toilets along the front.
