About this place
Interactive museum inside a historic jail with hands-on exhibits for children.
Restored to recreate its Victorian working days, this jail uses costumed actors and hands-on exhibits to bring 19th-century prison life to life in a way that's genuinely engaging for children rather than dry history. Visitors can try their hand in the exercise yard, learn about the punishments and daily routine of the time, and climb to the roof for views across Stirling towards the castle. It's a compact site, so a visit rarely takes more than an hour or so, making it easy to combine with the castle or a walk around the old town. There's an admission charge, and the building's age means some areas involve stairs rather than lifts.
