About this place
Long sandy beach with views out to Ailsa Craig, next to Girvan's harbour and amusements.
This long sandy beach in Girvan looks out towards Ailsa Craig, the distinctive granite island rising from the sea a few miles offshore and long quarried for the granite used to make curling stones used around the world. The beach sits right beside the town's harbour and a small stretch of seafront amusements, giving families the option to combine sand play with a more traditional seaside arcade visit. It's a proper, old-fashioned Scottish seaside town rather than a purely natural beach. It's free to visit, with parking nearby and cafes along the front.
