About this place

Five-towered castle with elaborate interiors and a loch-side estate to explore.

Fyvie's five towers were each added by a different family that owned the castle over the centuries, and the National Trust for Scotland-run interiors reflect that layered history, particularly in the elaborate Edwardian rooms added during the castle's last major renovation. It's said to be one of Scotland's more haunted castles, with legends including a Green Lady and a Grey Lady adding an extra thread of interest for children keen on a spooky story. Outside, the grounds run down to a loch with waymarked walks around it. There's an admission charge for the castle, with grounds-only tickets also available, and a tea room on site.
