Warmed by the Gulf Stream on the exposed tip of the Rhins of Galloway, Logan is often described as Scotland's most exotic garden, growing tree ferns, palms and other plants more typically associated with the southern hemisphere out in the open, far further north than most gardeners would expect them to survive. The unusual planting gives it a genuinely different feel from a typical Scottish garden, almost subtropical in places. It's part of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh's family of gardens. There's an admission charge, and while main paths are accessible, the garden's scale means a fair amount of walking.
