About this place

Free country park near Lochgelly built on reclaimed mining land, with a loch, watersports, play areas and cycling trails.

Built on land once dominated by coal mining, Lochore Meadows has been transformed into one of Fife's largest country parks, with a loch offering watersports, waymarked cycling and walking trails, and play areas spread across the reclaimed landscape. The Mining Museum near the park entrance, centred on a preserved pithead frame, gives some context on the area's industrial past for families interested in the history behind the transformation. Its scale means there's genuinely enough here to fill a full day, whether spent on the water, on the trails, or simply at the play areas. It's free to visit the park, with charges for watersports activities, and most main paths are suitable for buggies.
