This waterfall near the village of Foyers, on the quieter eastern shore of Loch Ness, drops in a dramatic series of falls through a wooded gorge, and was celebrated by both Robert Burns and William Wordsworth after visiting in the 18th and 19th centuries. A path from the car park leads down through woodland to a viewing point looking directly at the falls, with the walk being a proper, if manageable, descent and climb back up. Its position away from the busier Urquhart Castle side of the loch means it tends to stay quieter even in peak season. It's free to visit, with parking at the trailhead, and the path is not suitable for buggies.
