This clifftop park on the edge of Kirkcaldy combines woodland walks with the dramatic ruins of Ravenscraig Castle, begun in the 1460s for Mary of Guelders, wife of King James II, and notable as one of the earliest castles in Scotland built specifically to withstand artillery. The park's position above the Firth of Forth gives good sea views, and paths lead down towards the shore for those wanting to extend the walk further. It's a good combination of history and open-air space without needing to travel far from the town centre. It's free to visit, with parking nearby, and while the park itself is largely accessible, the castle ruins involve uneven ground.
