About this place

Extensive native pinewood on the edge of Grantown-on-Spey, with a network of free, waymarked walking trails.

This extensive area of native Scots pine woodland on the edge of Grantown-on-Spey offers a genuinely large network of waymarked trails, ranging from short loops suited to young children to longer routes for families wanting a proper walk. Red squirrels and a good range of woodland birds are regularly seen among the trees, and the flat, sandy paths typical of Speyside pinewoods make for relatively easy walking compared with some hillier Highland trails. Its position right on the edge of the town means it's an easy, no-car-needed outing for anyone staying in Grantown. It's free to visit, with parking at several points around the woods, and many of the main paths are buggy-friendly.
