About this place
Reconstructed medieval village in the Carron Valley, with costumed interpreters and hands-on activities.
Built from scratch by a dedicated group of historical re-enactors, this reconstructed medieval village in the Carron Valley near Denny gives visitors a genuinely immersive look at life in Scotland several centuries ago, with timber buildings, a great hall and costumed interpreters demonstrating period crafts and skills. Hands-on activities, such as archery or blacksmithing demonstrations, run through visits, giving children a much more active role than a typical museum tour. Its remote, wooded setting adds to the atmosphere, feeling genuinely removed from modern life once inside the village gates. Visits are usually by guided tour on specific open days, so it's worth checking ahead before travelling. There's an admission charge, and the ground is uneven underfoot throughout.
