The move means the castle's polygonal walls now stand in a slightly different spot from where they were originally built, an unusual piece of 20th-century engineering history layered onto a medieval structure. The loch itself, set among quiet hill country, makes for a peaceful walk regardless of interest in the castle. It's free to visit, with parking nearby and paths that are largely manageable but can be uneven.
