About this place
Visitor centre above Aberfoyle with forest trails, a red squirrel hide and views over the Trossachs.
Perched on a hillside above Aberfoyle, this visitor centre marks the start of several waymarked trails through the surrounding Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, ranging from short, easy loops to longer routes for families with more stamina. A hide overlooking bird feeders gives a good chance of spotting red squirrels, a particular draw for children keen on wildlife. The centre itself has a cafe and exhibition explaining the surrounding forest and its history, along with genuinely impressive views out over the Trossachs from the terrace outside. It's a good base for a half-day or full day depending on which trails are walked. There's a charge for parking, with the centre and shorter trails largely accessible, though longer routes involve steeper, forested terrain.
