About this place

Iconic stone bridge on Skye with the Cuillin mountains as a backdrop, a classic photo stop and short walk.

This old stone bridge at Sligachan, with the jagged peaks of the Black Cuillin rising dramatically behind it, is one of the most photographed spots on Skye, and it's easy to see why once the mountains come into view on a clear day. The area around the bridge offers short, easy walks along the river, as well as access to much longer, more serious hill routes into the Cuillin for experienced walkers. A hotel beside the bridge has served climbers and travellers for generations, giving the spot a genuine sense of history alongside the scenery. It's free to visit, with parking at the hotel, and the riverside paths near the bridge are manageable for most families.
