About this place
Strange grassy cone-shaped hills near Uig that feel like a miniature landscape.
A cluster of small, oddly conical grassy hills near Uig gives this spot its otherworldly feel, as though someone had built a miniature landscape and left it there - the most distinctive of the hills, Castle Ewen, is a natural rock outcrop that looks almost architectural. A circular stone arrangement in the grass, often called a fairy ring, is more likely the remains of an old sheep enclosure than anything magical, but it adds to the atmosphere all the same. It's free, gentle underfoot and easy for children to explore, though visitors are asked not to build cairns or stack stones, as it damages the fragile turf.
