About this place

Woodland waterfall walk near Strathpeffer with a suspension bridge over the falls.

A short woodland walk near Strathpeffer leads to Rogie Falls, where the Black Water river forces its way through a narrow rocky gorge, crossed by a suspension bridge that gives a dramatic view straight down onto the falls below. In late summer and early autumn, salmon can sometimes be seen leaping up the falls as they migrate upstream to spawn, adding an extra point of interest for visitors timing their trip right. The path itself is well-maintained and manageable for most families, though the bridge can feel a little exposed for very young children. It's free to visit, with parking at the trailhead and the main path suitable for most buggies with care.
